Rod and Staff Phonics Program – Many parents choose the Rod and Staff curriculum for teaching their children how to read because of it’s unique focus on using Bible stories and Biblical truths in it’s early readers. This phonics program is designed to go with the early reader curriculum, so while it can be used independently on it’s own, it is usually recommended that you use this program of phonics if you are planning to later use the Rod and Staff reading curriculum as well.

My A-Z Bible Verses Lapbook – A great resource for teaching children Bible memory verses at the same time as learning their alphabet. Each letter of the alphabet has a Bible verse. Children can trace the letters, arrange them in order, practice matching upper-case and lower case letters, and learn Bible memory verses all at the same time. Very hands on!

Rod and Staff Bible Nurture and Reader Series – The early reader curriculum is a real favorite among homeschool families. It is unique in that it uses Bible based stories to teach young children how to read. So instead of just learning lots of random vocabulary, your child will actually be learning Bible stories and Biblical truths while learning to read.

Safari Grammar: A Pleasant and Educational Trip Through Grammarland (by Mario Risso) -- I highly recommend this book. I had the hardest time as a student trying to understand and keep straight all the different grammar rules and terms. It's hard to make grammar fun and exciting, but this book does a good job of it. A very simple and painless way to learn the technical details of the English language.

Safari Punctuation (by Mario Risso) -- a companion book to Safari Grammar. Both books are a fun way to teach an otherwise boring and technical subject like grammar and punctuation to both kids and adults alike. The subjects are taught in a cartoon style. Very entertaining!
