Hello, World! Solar System

Hello, World! Solar System. This book is definitely a favorite in our home! The graphics are cute and very appealing for kids, and the information about the planets is kept very simple and easy for young kids to understand. I especially love that this book just sticks with the basic facts and doesn’t teach evolution at all.

Curious George Discovers the Stars

Curious George Discovers the Stars. George loves summer nights in the country, that's where he does his best stargazing. When his friend Bill says that nobody knows how many stars there are, George is determined to count!  But how will he keep track? Come along as George learns all about stars, constellations, and the night sky. Not only is it a great story to read to kids, but the book also includes some short astrology facts, some real life photos, and even some experiments and activities to get kids interested and engaged in the study of science.

Mousetronaut: Based on a (Partially) True Story

Mousetronaut. In this picture book based on the space shuttle Endeavor, mice are being trained alongside human astronauts and selected to accompany the 2001 mission. Meteor is one of the smallest mice, but the most hardworking. After the suspenseful liftoff, an irreplaceable key gets stuck between control panels, and he hurls into action to save the mission. The tone of the story is celebratory, but also gives an authentic glimpse into daily life on a space shuttle.

This book is available as a Read Aloud on YouTube.

Me and My Place in Space

Me and My Place in Space. This book really helps to make a study of space more personal and relatable for kids. With Earth as a starting point, a young astronaut leads readers on a tour past each planet and on to the stars, answering simple questions about our solar system.

God’s Creation: Space & Time

God’s Creation: Space & Time. From spinning planets, glowing comets, burning stars, and pinwheeling galaxies, to a discussion about bowling balls on a trampoline (that explains how space and time warp)-and much, much more-scientifically accurate concepts are discussed in kid-friendly language. Add drawings, photos, and fun facts, and young scientists see the awesome and intricate plan God had in mind when he created the heavens and earth.

How to Draw a Rocket Ship

Easy Kids Drawing: How to Draw a Rocket Ship. This particular drawing series is one of my kids’ favorites. The instructions are easy to follow, and the person giving the instructions does a really good job of encouraging kids to try new things and even use their own imagination to make their drawings unique.
