Writing Love Letters
As you prepare to write a letter to your husband, keep in mind the fact that men and women have different “languages” of love, and different things they view as being romantic. Therefore, writing him a letter that says all the things you would want to hear isn’t always the best idea, as it won’t necessarily be what he is most wanting to hear.
What He Wants to Hear
1) He wants to know that you admire him.
Your husband will be deeply touched to know that you not only love him, but that you really admire him. Let him know that you find him handsome, that you feel attracted to him, that you think about him often, etc.
2) He wants to know you respect him.
If you tell your husband that you love him, that’s nice, but to tell him that you respect him would mean even more to him. However, it is not enough to only tell him you respect him, just like you want him to show you that he loves you, he also wants you to show him that you respect him. So telling him what you respect about him and why you respect him would make the sentiment all the more meaningful to him.
3) He wants to know you appreciate him.
Men feel very strongly a need to protect and provide for their families. It will mean a lot to your husband if you let him know how much you appreciate what he does for you.
4) He wants to be affirmed.
Let your husband know the things you admire about his character, his convictions, and his ambitions and goals in life. Tell him specifically what you see in him that is noble and worthy of praise. Let him know that you believe in him and really support him in his decisions, career choice, or ambitions for life.
Beginning the Letter
When beginning your letter, use an intimate salutation. Here are a few ideas:

The Letter’s Content
You can write anything in a love letter, though sometimes it can be difficult to feel inspired in the moment. Here are a few ideas to help you find your inspiration:
* Think of a time when you felt particularly moved by seeing your loved one, no matter how small the event. Recall the moment in detail. Remember the emotional and physical feelings of that moment. Then write a description of that moment, including details about your feelings.
* Write about something you really appreciate about your spouse. How hard he works. How dependable and reliable he is. How safe you feel when you are with him. How he makes you feel. You can also mention his looks, personality, humor, charm, etc. Another way of letting them know they are appreciated is to mention all the little things he has done to help you that you have taken notice of in the past week. . .letting him know you noticed the many things he’s been doing for you can be very encouraging to your husband.
* If you are apart, write about the different things you look forward to doing with him when he returns.
* List things I dream of doing with him someday
* List things we would do if we were together right now
* Poems, Bible Verses, Quotes
* What I want in life
* What I need in a husband
* Reasons why he's my hero
* Things I love about him
* Recall moments when we first met

Finishing Touches
* Put the letter in a nice envelope or roll the letter up like a scroll and tie it with a ribbon.
* Seal the letter with a kiss – put on some lipstick and kiss the letter to leave a mark of kissing lips on the paper.
* Spray a little perfume on the letter – make it smell nice and sensual.
* Draw a picture. It doesn’t matter if you can’t draw good, even if your drawings look like a little kids’ art it will still be very romantic. Draw hearts, smiley faces, flowers, or stick people that represent you and your husband. Color the drawing with crayons to add lots of color to your letter.
Other Ideas
* Use different colored pens or markers when writing to add color and flare to your letter.
* Include a romantic quote, poem, or Bible verse.
