Praying for Your Husband: Past
Lord, I pray that you would enable ___(name)___ to entirely let go of the negative memories or pain from the past. Deliver him from any troubling or disturbing thoughts that have a hold on him. Take away the sting or emotional pain that accompanies such thoughts.
Help him to be able to process the negative thoughts and emotions in a healthy manner
and to put off any habits of processing these thoughts that may be destructive to
his self-
I ask that you would heal him, Father, from the pain of betrayal he has suffered from old friends and from the hurtful words that have been spoken to him in the past.
Show him a fresh, new ways of relating to the negative things that have happened. Give him the mind of Christ so that he can clearly discern your voice from the voices of the past or lies that the evil one would try to plant in his mind.
When he hears those old voices, enable him to rise up and shut them out with the truth of your word and the assurance of your approval of him. Help him not to care so much about what others think of him, but to hold your opinion in the highest regard. Assure him, Father, of your love and approval. Where he has formerly experienced rejection, insult, or criticism, I pray that you would not allow them to affect what he sees and hears now.
Protect him from the lies of the enemy. Help him to discern your voice and to know when a rebuke comes from you or when a rebuke comes from another source that is twisted with lies that are meant to discourage him. Bring healing to his heart, soul, and mind. Heal the wounds that have been made by unkind words in the past. Deliver him from them and give him victory over them.
Father, I pray that you would give him the grace to forgive those who have wronged him in the past. Pour forgiveness into his heart so that bitterness, resentment, revenge, and unforgiveness will have no place there.
When he looks back at his past let him clearly see how you have been leading him with your right hand and working all things together for good. Let his past give him hope for the future as he recalls your faithfulness over the years.
