Praying for Your Husband: Fears
Lord, you have said in your word that perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18). So Father, I pray that you would perfect ___(name)___ in your love so that tormenting fears would find no place in him.
I know that you have not given him a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). I pray, in the name of Jesus, that fear would not rule over ___(name)___ in any way. Instead, may your word penetrate every fiber of his being, convincing him that your love for him is far greater than anything he may face in life, and that nothing can separate him from that love.
I pray that ___(name)___ would see you this day as his loving Father and that he would have confidence to approach your throne of grace through the finishing work of Jesus Christ (Hebrews 4:16).
Your love is unfailing, Your strength is without equal. In your presence there is nothing to fear. I pray that ___(name)___ would be reminded of this and not only know it to be true but also feel it in his heart that you love him and call him your own.
Deliver ___(name)___ this day from fear that destroys and replace it instead with godly fear. Teach him your ways and help him to walk in your truth. May he have no fear of men but have confidence to say, "The Lord is my helper, I will not fear. What can man do to me?" (Hebrews 13:6).
Father, I pray for the fears that ___(name)___ has right now. I pray that he would not keep those fears harbored up inside, but that he would find a way to release them and let them go. I pray that he would never feel alone in his fears, but that at all times, and in all places, he would have true friends and companions that he can trust and confide in who will council him in your wisdom, encourage him in faith, and build him up in hope.
Oh ___(name)___, be strong in the Lord and do not be afraid! "Behold, your God will
come with vengeance, with the recompense of God; He will come and save you." (Isaiah
35:4). "You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor the arrow that flies
by day, nor the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor the destruction that lays
waste at noonday" (Psalm 91:5-
I pray Lord, that you would use me to be a source of encouragement to my husband. That he would feel free to confide in me and able to share with me what fears he has. Help me, at that time, to be all that he needs me to be. Give me the right words to say at the right time, as well as the discernment to know when I should remain silent and just listen. Help me to be sensitive to his needs.
Oh that you would delight to use me, Lord, to be a refreshing spirit to him! Let me always be such a great encouragement to ___(name)___, that he would not delay in coming to me and taking me into his confidence.
Release him from any fear he may have of losing me. Any fear of not being good enough. Any fear of not being able to provide as the head of our home. Help him to surrender these fears to you and have peace in heart. Help me to know how to portray to him the satisfaction I have in being his. Help me never give him the impression of wanting more than he can offer.
Father, you know all things. You know what troubles his mind and what burdens he is trying to carry. I pray that you would release him of these burdens and set him free from fear, from worry, and from anxieties of every kind. Help him to lay his cares at the foot of the cross and look to you for strength, for assurance, and for relief.
May he look to you for strength and be content to rest in your arms. Be to him a strong tower and a mighty fortress in the day of trouble. Hide him in the cleft of the rock and fill him with your peace!
Amen!
